General Manager

Job Description




The general manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the planning, organizing, training,

and leadership necessary to achieve stated Hurricane Grill - Wings objectives in sales, costs, Team

Member retention, guest service and satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation. The GM

should also be a scheduled manager on shifts in the restaurant and be fully integrated into daily



The general manager reports directly to the owner/operator. In most cases, however, and at least

initially, the owner/operator will assume the duties of the general manager.


Ensures (through management staff) that all staff members arrive to work

on time, ready to work, neat, and well groomed, according to Hurricane

Grill and Wings dress and appearance standards

Understands completely all Hurricane Grill and Wings policies,

procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs

Is responsible for the management of Food and Alcohol Costs

Builds sales and guest counts

Maximizes sales and profits by teaching, coaching, and holding meetings

Knows each staff member's name and genuinely greets and interacts with


Proactively handles all staff and guest requests or concerns quickly with

care and fairness

Maintains consistent staffing levels

Manages staff performance with clear feedback, recognition, reviews,

coaching/teaching, and discipline

Identifies and develops staff members for future leadership roles

Maintains outstanding restaurant appearance and sanitation

Holds self and staff accountable for attitude, behavior, results, and

Hurricane Grill and Wings standards/systems

Ensures that necessary inventories, orders, sufficient levels of product,

smallwares, and tools are maintained

Learns, lives, and teaches Hurricane Grill and Wings principles to all staff


Works and communicates well with people of different backgrounds,

experience levels, and personalities

Delegates and gets work done through others

Learns, teaches, and upholds food, beverage and service standards and


Demonstrates a leadership style that creates a positive working

environment and remains calm during stressful and emotional situations

Is organized in all areas (e.g. personnel files, storage areas, sidework,

and scheduling)

Knows Hurricane and LTO menus completely and can teach staff to

describe taste, preparation, and ingredients of food and beverage items

Ensures that all food and products are consistently prepared and served

according to the restaurant's recipes, portioning, cooking, and serving


Controls cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and

reconciliation procedures in accordance with restaurant policies and


Makes employment and termination decisions

Ensures guest service standards and efficient operations

Continually strives to develop your staff in all areas of managerial and

professional development

Prepares all required paperwork-- including forms, reports and

schedules--in an organized and timely manner

Ensures that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working

condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant's

preventative maintenance programs

Ensures that all products are received in correct unit count and condition,

and deliveries are performed in accordance with the restaurant's

receiving policies and procedures

Schedules labor as required by anticipating business activity, ensures

that all positions are staffed as needed, and ensures labor cost objectives

are met

Is knowledgeable of Hurricane Grill and Wings policies regarding

personnel and administers prompt, fair and consistent corrective action

for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures

Fully understands and complies with all federal, state, county, and

municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements

of the restaurant, Team Members and guests

Develops, plans, and implements restaurant marketing, advertising, and

promotional activities and campaigns


Minimum 21 years of age - High school equivalency; college coursework


Previous supervisory and hospitality industry experience

Proficient communication skills in English (verbal and written)

Proven track record of success as a restaurant manager in service, food

and beverage industry, involving at least five years of front-of-the-house

operations and/or assistant management positions

Possesses excellent basic math skills and has the ability to operate a

computer or POS system

Must be Food Handler Certified

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
